Dawning Star: Fate of Eos #SneakPeekWeek

Dawning Star: Fate of Eos is undergoing it's very successful kickstarter campaign for its fabled setting relaunch.  This week they declared it #SneakPeekWeek where we get to see different pieces of the new book and how they are changing it to the new Fate Core mechanics.  Three previews has already been released on the kickstarter update page:

1. Skills (Oct 7)
2. Xenomorphs (Oct 8)
3. Tech (Oct 9)

Some peeps still wary of the specific Dawning Star mechanics additions to Fate Core.  In my opinion the changes or additions to the standard rules make a lot of sense to the setting and bring a little bit of the crunchiness lost on the D20 Future conversion to Fate Core.

The second aspect I would like to address is the template of the book.  So far we have seen a red colored template ala Helios Rising, a blue template like the original book cover from Operation Quick Launch and a green one in the latest Tech preview.  Though I understand the green radar like template of the Tech preview it is my least favorite, the blue one feels right at home, but the red wins the court as it looks new and refreshing while still echoing the original template.

Finally the $20k stretch goal is to have full color interiors, in the Xenomorphs preview we got to see full color images, wow what a difference, that is a stretch goal that we must reach at all cost is so worth it.

Dawning Star: Fate of Eos is my most desired RPG right now, cant wait to play again under the new rules and expanded continuity.

Apocalypse Prevention, Inc. 2nd Edition

The news been around for a time but API is getting a 2nd Edition for its 5th year anniversary.  The staff at Third Eye Games gave us a list this morning of things to look forward!

20 playable races (there were only 10 in the original corebook)
New Reasons mechanic to replace Passions
New Fight Style rules to really seal in the fresh battles
New Stamina rules more in line with DGS-Lite, but slightly different!
Full conversion rules for taking characters and concepts from API1E and translating them to API2E

20 playable races, that's insane!  That probably means all the lore that comes with the playable races as well.  As I have mentioned before, I play the Savaged! Edition of API, I think this is a great opportunity to try it in DGS (Dynamic Gaming System).  I can't wait to getting more updates on this.  I also wonder if there is going to be a second edition for the Savage Worlds version as well!
